In between workshop dates students are encouraged to plan a project top down, so that they may ask questions in the second class. You will not need to purchase this software in order to take this workshop – everything learned in Weave-it is also applicable to hand-drafting on grid paper. Weave-it is immensely helpful for designing weave drafts and project planning, and is a valuable resource for weavers who are looking to create a catalog of weave drafts. The second evening students will learn a brief overview of Weave-it software, a weaving application for creating, designing and displaying weaving drafts and patterns. They will learn about using a sketchbook to record project notes, how and why to sample, labeling samples and general studio practice knowledge. The first evening students will learn how to start planning their own projects and determine specifications such as: warp and weft yarns, warp width and length, epi, reading a harness draft, etc. Welcome to our first series of zoom workshops! This virtual workshop is designed for beginner weavers who are seeking guidance on how to plan woven projects and create/edit weave drafts.
